Happy seven month birthday, Kason!!

Kason turned 7 months old today! Wow!! I can't believe it! I had to take a picture of him in these same pj's that Kenley wore. I put them side by side so you can see the two of them at approx the same age. Cute, huh? Kason has learned to do all kinds of things in the last 7 months. He learned to roll both ways, said Dada for the first time on November 22 (still waiting for Mama!), and learned to sit up unassisted. The most recent news is that Kason learned to crawl too!! He was army crawling for a while, but he's pretty much got the knees and hands crawling down now! He's a mover too....I have a feeling he'll be an early walker because he always wants to stand! He's even tried to pull himself up several times and is almost successful at it! We're in trouble now!

In other news....Kason got his first tooth TODAY! It broke the skin finally. It's his bottom, left tooth and the bottom right is coming right behind it! In the picture above, he's chewing on a teething biscuit. He was such a mess that he went right to the bathtub when he finished, but obviously, he absolutely loved it!

10 on Tuesday: Thanksgiving Edition

10 things I am thankful for!

1. My children! They are happy, healthy and the joys of my life. I couldn't have asked for better kids!

2. My wonderful husband! He is my soul mate and I am so lucky to have found him when I was 13 years old. He works extremely hard to take care of our family and I am so thankful for that. He's not only a great husband and father, but he's my best friend. I love him more than anything!

3. My family! I have the best mom in the whole wide world! I'm so thankful to have her in my life and my kids lives. In addition to my wonderful mom, I have a fantastic step-dad, and 2 sisters who I love dearly!

4. My In-laws! I am lucky enough to have some of the best in-laws in the world. They are wonderful people who would do anything for us and their grandkids. I've heard so many stories of the crazy Mother-in-laws, but I have a great one!!

5. My friends! Justin and I have some of the best friends anyone could ask for! We have so much fun hanging out with our friends and have no idea what we would do without them!

6. My job. I have a great job with great coworkers who are now my friends! I'm lucky to have my full pay and the flexibility to spend time with my family/friends when I want!

7. My health. I know I could take better care of myself, but I am pretty healthy and I am thankful for that!

8. The snooze button! I love that extra little bit of sleep!

9. Our animals. Even though I complain about then sometimes, I still love them and the unconditional love they have given us.

10. The Internet! I wouldn't be able to document my life and keep up with so many people if it weren't for the world wide web!

Happy birthday to my sweet, sweet baby girl!

I honestly cannot believe that my first 'baby' is 4 years old today. I feel like it was only months ago that I was anxiously awaiting her arrival. Kenley has grown up so fast!! We've gone from the tiny baby that was just finding her voice to a sassy little girl who never shuts up!! She's learned so much and brought SO much joy to our lives....I can't even explain it. I got teary eyed just looking through all the old pictures of her and her life yesterday.

To celebrate Kenley's birthday we will have dinner and maybe a cake tonight and she will open her presents from Justin and I tonight. Tomorrow Kenley will take cupcakes to preschool for a little party and will then go see Dr. Paula for her 4 year check up. She will get her kindergarten shots. We've talked about her getting shots, but I wonder how it will go. Friday night Kylie and Maddie will be coming over for a slumber party! Justin will be gone and Kason goes to sleep at 6:30, so it will just be us girls! I think I'm as excited as she is!! Saturday we have the big birthday at Chuck E Cheese. Kenley loves the place, so she can hardly wait! I'll have lots of pictures to share too!!

Since I didn't have this blog until 2008, I thought I would share my birth story. Here goes!

On November 18th, 2005 I went into the hospital around noon to have a pain checked out. I had been having some issues with my blood pressure and sugar in my urine, as well as RAPID weight gain. The doctor was keeping a close eye on me prior to this. When I called about the pain, Dr. Womack told me to just come in to have it checked out. I was hooked up to the monitors for a few hours before I saw my doctor. The monitor was showing regular contractions and my blood pressure got higher with each one. Once I saw Dr. Womack, she checked me and told me that I was 3 cm dilated and that I was staying to have a baby!! I was honestly a bit shocked, but SO ready to meet my little lady! After making a few calls to Justin and my mom, we moved into a birthing room where I was hooked to pitocin to get things rolling. Everything was pretty calm for a while, so she came in to break my water. That really got things going! I started to have pretty good and painful contractions, so I asked for an epidural. Let me just say that the epidural experience was a horrible experience. If you've never had one....the have a little tiny needle that they stick in your back several times to numb the area before using the 'big' needle. The anesthesiologist could not seem to get it into the correct place and I was stuck in the back more than 40 times. I was literally a human pin cushion and had problems/pain in that area for at least a month afterwards! Once the epidural was in, it was only working on one side. It took a while to get things working correctly, but once it did....it was Heaven! I was able to sleep for a few hours (it was nighttime by this point) before I was ready give birth!

Approx 23 hours after checking into the hospital, I was 10 cm dilated and ready to meet my baby girl! Justin was by my side as I pushed for 40 minutes. I gave birth at 11:30 am on November 19th, 2005 to the most beautiful baby girl I had ever seen before in my life! She was perfect in every single way, including the cone head she had since she was in the birth canal for so long. I remember Justin asked Dr. Womack if her head was going to stay that way....I'm pretty sure he was freaked out by it! We were all instantly in love and still are, probably more so, to our beautiful baby girl! We couldn't be happier to have our baby girl. We love you more than life itself, Kenley Paige Conyers, and hope you have the best 4th birthday a girl could dream of!

10 on Tuesday: Kenley Edition

Since Kenley's 4th birthday is on Thursday, I wanted to dedicate this edition of 10 on Tuesday to 10 things about Kenley!

1. Kenley was due on December 3rd, but she was born at exactly 38 weeks, on the 19th of November. We joked that it would be funny if she were born on that day because the 19th is also our anniversary (June) and Justin's birthday (December).

2. She only took a pacifier for 3 months and never loved it. Kason is the same way and is now pacifier free as well!

3. Kenley uses a coozie (can cooler) on her cups and calls it a 'coat'. She doesn't like to hold the cup when it's cold, so the 'coat' keeps her hands from getting cold.

4. She potty trained herself (pretty much) when she was just over 2 years old. I wasn't quite ready to go down the potty training path, but she didn't give me a choice!

5. She slept in her crib, with the rails, until she was 3 years old! She never once tried climb out of it and slept like a champ....I didn't see the need to mess that up! She adjusted very quickly to her 'big girl' bed though!

6. Kenley was born weighing more than her brother (7 lbs, 1 oz as opposed to 6 lbs, 13 oz) and has been bigger than him since.

7. She could sing the ABC's long before her second birthday, maybe around 18 months or so.

8. She's a picky, eater! Most of the foods she loves are pretty healthy though. Here are some of her favorite foods: bananas, chicken nuggets, peanut butter sandwiches/crackers, cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese crackers, powered doughnuts, sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles, cheerios (dry), vanilla ice cream, toast, scrambled eggs, & granola bars. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but those were the ones I thought of first!

9. Kenley loves necklaces, dresses, lip gloss, and sparkles....she's very girly!!

10. Her favorite toy(s) are her My Little Pony things. She has a collection of approximately 100 ponies and plays with them all the time, including during bath time!

BONUS: I keep thinking of more things to add!

11. Kenley used to have at least 5 blankets in her crib and I had to cover her with each of them one by one. She used to keep lots of toys and books in her bed too, and still does! She now hides things under her pillow!

12. Kenley has had a security blanket (nannie) since she was about 6 months old. Nannie went everywhere with us, and I mean EVERYWHERE!! Nannie is slowly starting to phase out a little now though. She doesn't take nannie to school anymore and doesn't ask for it all the time like she used to. I even took nannie and gave it a bath (aka: wash in the washing machine) yesterday and she never asked for it one time. Didn't even know it was gone! This is HUGE progress if you know how attached she was!

10 on Tuesday

1. Today was the longest day in the history of the Earth!

2. Congratulations to my Mom and Dale on your house purchase today! I'm looking forward to having a place where we can all be together and not crowded!

3. Speaking of my moms new house....I'm taking the day off work tomorrow so that I can help them paint. A lot to paint and do in general before moving on Saturday!

4. No 10 on Tuesday last week. I was busy and just couldn't find the time to sit down and do it.

5. New blog design again. What do you think? Leave me a comment and tell me!

6. As you can tell from yesterday's post, we spent the day on Saturday at the game. We had a great time and it was wonderful to have some warm weather to enjoy!

7. Sunday we got family pictures taken, as well as Kenley's 4 year pictures and Kason's 6 month pictures. I can't wait to get them back and see how they all turned out. I know that we got some great shots!

8. Last night I went to my friend Richelle's baby shower. She's having a boy and looks SO cute! Hardly showing at all and hasn't gained hardly any weight. I hate her :)

9. This week has been crazy busy for me at work. We are switching the entire department to a completely different payroll system that changes the way we do things. We have to train everyone in some capacity in the next week and a half. The new system will be nice once we get all switched over.

10. Kenley's birthday is next Thursday. I can't believe that I am the mom to a 4 year old!!! She's really 3 going on 13 though!

Go Mizzou!!!

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend so we decided to head out and go to the Mizzou game. We have season tickets, but hardly get the chance to go. Kenley loves the games and always has a great time....especially since we get to see Amy dance. Amy is Uncle Josh's girlfriend and she's a Golden Girl! Kason was good as gold, but didn't know what to think about all of the noise. He enjoyed the game, but got tired and would not go back to sleep while we were in the stadium. We left Kenley with Grandma and Grandpa Conyers and we took Kason back to the tailgate so he could take a nap in the stroller. Overall I'd say our first Mizzou football game as a family of 4 was a big hit!!

Kenley showing us her cheering skills!

Happy Halloween!!!

Kenley loved Halloween! She loved dressing up as Tinkerbell and she had a great time trick or treating. Kason looked adorable in his Captain Hook outfit, but he could have cared less about Halloween. He was not happy to put on the hat and only ended up wearing his costume for about 30 minutes. He was asleep by 7:30 anyway, so he missed most of the Halloween fun!

Justin and I got to dress up and go to a costume party too!! We went 'Sweatin to the Oldies' style. Justin made a great Richard Simmons (Love the shirt) and I was an 80's style workout chick. We had a great time at the party!
