10 on Tuesday: Kason Edition
Since today is Kason's 5 month birthday, I'll be dedicating this 10 on Tuesday to 10 things about Kason. Happy 5 month birthday, Little Man. Where did the last 5 months go?
1. Kason just started on solids and he doesn't know what to think about them! You can see the confusion in his eyes tonight (pictured above) about what was going on. He spit out more than he ate, but it will take him a little while to get used to it. He had sweet peas after the cereal and wasn't too sure about them either!
2. He has an outie belly button right now. It may become an innie, but only time will tell!
3. He loves to hear his sister's voice. She talks from anywhere in the room and he just starts smiling from ear to ear! It's adorable!!
4. Kason has recently found his voice. He screeches and babbles all the time now. I mean all.the.time! I kept thinking that he would be a late talker since Kenley talks so much he'd never be able to get a word in edgewise, but I think I'm wrong. My house won't be quiet again for at least 18 years!
5. He has also found his feet. He's always grabbing them with his hands, but hasn't quite got them into his mouth yet. I know that's coming. I'm just surprised he hasn't found his penis yet!
6. He pees EVERY single time you put him in the bathtub. (I know you were dying to hear that)
7. The only binkie (pacifier) he will take is the one from the hospital. I've tried several others and he just spits them right out. I had a back up that my sister gave me, but I somehow lost it. I need another one if you know anyone who has one they aren't using!
8. Kason started sleeping through the night (10-6) at 8 weeks old and now sleeps 7:30-6 every night. I'm lucky that I have great sleepers....Kenley was the same way!
9. I'm pretty sure he's going to have a tooth, or two, popping in any day now. He's been chewing the crap out of everything he can get his hands on and he's drooling buckets!
10. He LOVES to snuggle! He loves to smash his head up against my neck or chest and would stay there forever if I'd let him. Trust me...I want him to stay there forever! He also smashes his head up against the side of his crib when he sleeps.

Ice skating fun!!
We went to Madison's 7th birthday party on Sunday. It was at the Washington Park Ice Skating Arena. Kenley was SO excited about learning to ice skate....I was a little nervous since it had been a long time since I'd been. She loved it though and I did pretty good myself! I didn't fall at all, much to my surprise, and Kenley only fell once!
They had these great 'walker' things that people could use to help them get used to the ice. Basically you just push it around on the ice and it helps you keep your balance and not fall. A lot of the kids there were using them, and even some adults. Kenley soon figured out that all she had to do was hang her arms/chest over the front bar and then I would skate her around. That's what we did....you can see it in the next 2 pictures!

Our little RockBridge cheerleader!!
Sherri bought this cheerleader outfit for Kenley last year and it still fits this year! I found a pair of gold bloomers and a bodysuit online since it's cold during football season and she needed something to cover up her underwear! I stayed home with my sick boy last Friday night, but Kenley went to the game with Justin's parents. She looked SO cute!!

10 on Tuesday
1. I don't even know where to start....there has been so much going on the last couple weeks!
2. Kason is finally better!! It was a LONG week, but he is finally better. Even after I posted that he was getting better....he still threw up a couple times after that! It was so hard to see my baby throwing up and feeling so horrible!
3. Kenley is sick now...go figure! One would think that she would have gotten the same thing Kason had, but nope....she has croup. I took her to the doctor this afternoon (I'm really sick of seeing them) and she was put on a steroid to open her airway. Apparently croup can be very scary because it can cause the airway to close and they can't breath. She told me that I should take her to the ER immediately if I notice that she has any trouble breathing at all.
4. I got all moved into my office and I love it!! Everything is so new and clean! I still have a couple of boxes to unpack and then some re-organizing of my file cabinets, but for the most part it's already home!
5. I couldn't say anything about it before now because she reads my blog, but we threw a surprise 50th birthday party for Justin's mom last Saturday!! It was a huge hut and amazingly she was surprised! We had a great turn out and we all had a wonderful time. Pictures to come soon.
6. Speaking of the party...do you know how hard it was to not tell Kenley about it? This is the girl who asks "what are we going to do tomorrow?' every single day. I always give her things to look forward to and to count the naps before they happen. Right now she is counting down the days until our friend Maddie's birthday party where she'll go ice skating for the first time.
7. Kason has found his feet. He's holding on to them all the time now. I'm just waiting for them to go into his mouth, but he hasn't figured that out just yet.
8. He also started some solid recently. The first time was the first day that he threw up. I fed him rice cereal at dinner time and then he ended up throwing up all over me a couple hours later when I sat down to feed him his bedtime bottle. I thought the two might have been related, but they weren't...he was just a sick boy! He had his first taste of green beans 2 days ago. He didn't really know what to think of them!
9. Kenley started dance lessons 2 weeks ago and LOVES it! She goes every Saturday for 45 minutes. They start off with ballet every week for the first 30 minutes and then alternate between tap and tumble for the last 15 minutes. She's really good at it all and you can tell it's her 'thing'. She absolutely loves dressing up as a ballerina and she does everything really well! Even the teacher commented on how good she was for being the youngest in her class (4 year old class) and never having dance before. I knew she'd be great though because she dances around the house all.the.time!
10. Happy birthday to Maddie, who is turning 7 Thursday and happy birthday to Sherri, who is turning 50 on Sunday! Love you guys!!

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 30
Lucky Powerball numbers??? I think not.....
1: Very sick baby boy
2: Trips to the doctor
3: Days he spent throwing up
4: Times I've been thrown up on
5: Different medicines/things bought to help him feel better
6: Diaper blow outs
7: Total days since this started
30: Dollars spent for the doctor to tell me it's a virus
Luckily, Kason is on the mend now. He's had this sinus thing since last Thursday and on Monday night he started throwing up. He threw up several times on me and even once on my mother-in-law, Sherri. The doctor said on the second trip that he has a lactose intolerance due to his intestines not producing the enzyme that helps digest the lactose. This is caused by all of the diarrhea and is only temporary. She gave me a few cans of lactose free formula (Similac Sensitive) to try until he gets better. It's been helping, thankfully, and he hasn't thrown up since Wednesday afternoon. He's finally on the mend!!

The flower girl!!!
Kenley was the flower girl in our best friend's wedding on September 6th. She was so excited to be in the wedding and talked about it for weeks! She ended up doing a pretty good job, but didn't throw any flowers! She walked down the isle and cried as soon as she saw my mom (sitting in the back row with Kason). She started to hold her breath and pretty much held it the whole way down. She got to the end and saw Grandpa (Justin's dad) and started bawling! Mike picked her up and took her to the back of isle. She was all good after that! It was a long day for her, so I'm not surprised.
The wedding was beautiful and the bride was absolutely stunning! The weather was perfect too. Everyone had a great time...I had a little too great of a time :) I was feeling it the next day, ALL of the next day! I've posted a few pictures of the day here and will post the link to the professional pictures once they are up. Congratulations Jason and Allyson! We couldn't be happier for you guys and wish you a life full of happiness!!

I will never forget.....
8 years ago today our lives changed. America changed. Everything changed. I will never forget it. I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was in college and in my apartment that I shared with my sister. I was getting ready for class, jamming to the radio, as I did every morning. The DJ's cut to programming to deliver breaking news. The World Trade Center had been hit by a plane. I remember thinking to myself that it must have been a little plane that clipped the side of the building or something. I had no idea what was really happening. I walked into the kitchen where I told my sister what had happened. We turned on the TV and just started watching. We heard about the attack on the Pentagon and the other plane that crashed into the field. We watched the second plane hit, we watched people jumping from the windows of the building, we watching people running & screaming, we watched as both building crumbled to the ground. We watched....in disbelief of what was happening.
I skipped school that day and for some reason my sister wasn't working that day either. We hopped in the car and drove straight to the Red Cross to give blood. We knew that the blood bank would need every bit they could get. We wanted to do something, anything to help. I remember the line of people there to donate was miles long. People were hugging each other and crying. Everyone was in shock...it was so surreal. I also remember everyone came together in the weeks following the attacks. It was really amazing.
In total 2993 people, including the hijackers, were killed. Today, even 8 years later there are at least that many people who are mourning the lose of their loved ones. I'll never forget how that day changed everything for everyone in America. God bless the USA!

I'm a slacker!
Last week I was totally busy trying to prepare everything for the wedding. This week I have been crazy busy at work and Justin has been taking the laptop to school to use for his workouts, so I haven't had it until he gets home. It's normally about the time I'm getting the kids in bed and then I just don't have the time to update. I don't think I'll have much time next week either because I have another busy week at work!! I'm finally moving into my new office!!! It's been a long 2 year renovation and the new offices are finally done! I'll be packing up my entire office on Monday and Tuesday, then moving on Wednesday and Thursday. I won't even have my work computer for a day or two during that time! I'm so excited to get my own office again and it makes it even better that it's NEW!!! I'll definitely be posting picture once I get settled in! I will also be posting a few pictures of the wedding from last weekend soon, so stay tuned!
