10 on Tuesday

My, my, my...It's been a long time. I'm going to try to start up again at the request of my momma :) Love you, momma! Here are some highlights of the last two years....

  1. Justin started his job at the Head Football Coach at Battle High. To top that off, we won the Class 5 State Championship this year, in only our second year of existence as a school and in our first year of playoff eligibility! How awesome is that? Way to go, Spartans!! I could not be more proud of Justin and his team!
  2. Kason started Kindergarten this year! His teacher says he is smart and sassy...which we already knew! He's doing really well though, other than getting in trouble for talking all the time. Can't say I'm surprised on that one! LOL
  3. We went on our first family vacation on Spring Break 2014. To say it was fabulous is an understatement. We went to Orange Beach, Alabama (Gulf Shores area) and although the weather wasn't as warm as we would have liked, we were able to play on the beach/in the ocean, got para-sailing (even Kason who was only 4), go on a freezing cold Dolphin Cruise, ride the HUGE Ferris wheel at The Wharf, play laser tag/ride bumper boats/race go karts, feed and hold alligators and spend tons of money on souvenirs at "Alvin's Island." Can't wait to go back when it's warmer!
  4. We finally finished our basement in our new house, too! OMG, are we in love! We use it more than I thought we would and it is so nice to have it done. I'll probably make a post about this process sometime in the future!
  5. I got a promotion. YAY! My boss retired back in August 2014 and I got promoted to her job. I moved to a bigger office with a double window and have been extremely busy, but loving my new job!
  6. Justin was voted the Class 5 Coach of the Year in Missouri, as well as our district Coach of the Year, and is in the running currently for the "Best of Columbia High School Coach of the Year" as well! So proud of him as I already mentioned!
  7. Kason learned to ride his bike with no training wheels. It took very little time and he's never looked back.
  8. Justin and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary back in June. Holy cow....10 years! Hoping to get to take that trip with him like we were supposed to last year but we decided to finish the basement instead!
  9. We were able to take the kids on several mini vacations in the last two year as well. We spent a couple weekends in St. Louis including a Cardinal games, the zoo, The City Museum and the Arch. We also have started taking the kids on a yearly float trip and that has been tons of fun as well!
  10. We have all been in good health and have enjoyed the past two years. Here's to keeping up with this blog :)

10 on Tuesday!

  1. I know, I know. It's been a long time. I just spent quite awhile updating my blog template to something fall-ish and updating the 2 year old pictures of my and my family (if you are getting this via feeder - go my my blog to check it out)! I know I have said it a bunch, but I am really going to put forth an effort to start blogging regularly again. I know, I know.....you'll believe it when you see it. Ha! Same here :)
  2. Today is my brother in law, Josh's, birthday. He's 25 years old. When I met him, he was a 7 year old who got the biggest kick out of annoying his older brother. He's grown up to be a pretty cool guy though :) Happy birthday, Josh!
  3. This Friday is the first 'district' football game for the bruins. They have had a pretty good season, 6-3, this year. From now on it's 'one and done' meaning if they lose, their season ends. Hopefully they will win every week from now until the state championship game on black Friday! That would be the ultimate way to end Justin's 9th and final year at Rock Bridge!
  4. Since I'm on the subject of football....Battle High School is coming together!! The school is looking good and now the athletic turf is installed! Justin has been working REALLY hard on getting all of the weight room and football stuff ready to be purchased. We absolutely cannot wait until next year!!
  5. Kenley's birthday is coming up in less than 4 weeks (she's counting down) and we are busy planning her birthday party! She's having it at a place called "The Canvas On Broadway" which is a super cool place where they walk you through doing your own painting. Kenley will go there and pick out which painting she wants to do for her party! It's going to be a lot of fun!
  6. Kenley is in first grade this year and is doing great. At this point she is reading at almost a 2nd grade level and is doing really well in math and writing, too! It's no surprise to me that my 'book worm' is reading beyond the expected level for her age! She's enjoying school still and really likes her teacher this year. She's also been dubbed the 'computer expert' in her class....this means if anyone has questions about how to use the computer, they should ask her! She thinks that is pretty cool!
  7. Kason is enjoying his second year of preschool, too. He has a new buddy, Jackson, who he says is his best friend. He talks about Jackson non-stop and has been asking for Jackson to come over to our house forever! Little does he know, Jackson is coming over tomorrow evening to have that play date! He is learning a lot at preschool and I have seen him really transforming into a little boy. He is so smart and he amazes me everyday! As much as it pains me to say it....he is definitely growing up! He's not a baby anymore!
  8. MU homecoming is this Saturday. I wish we were able to go to the game, but it's too early for Justin to be able to go. The homecoming parade is starting at 7am this year. WTH is that all about? I haven't decided if I will take the kids or not. That is really early and it is going to be really cold. Ugh...
  9. Kenley is now dancing at CPAC (Columbia Performing Arts Center) instead of Columbia Dance Academy. She's been wanting to take Jazz for a while now, but it didn't work out. Once I got to researching CPAC I found out that it's cheaper for her to dance there and, in my opinion, it's a better dance school. She loves it and is doing really well!
  10. We could use some prayers for Justin's grandpa, Dave. He's been in the hospital and is not doing well at all. Any thoughts or prays you could spare would be nice!

10 on Tuesday!

  1. I've been sucking at keeping this updated lately. Football will be over soon so hopefully it won't be as hard to keep it up!

  2. Speaking of football, Justin has been having a great season. They are currently 6-3 with one more game in the regular season. It's possible for us to go on after this game, but I know there is a formula to it and I can't explain it. Good luck, RB!

  3. Kenley had a field trip at school yesterday. Her school does a special thing every 6 weeks or so that all the kids get to do if they have all of their work done and have stayed out of trouble. The first time the went to the movies. Yesterday they went to Bradford Farms for several hours. Kenley had a great time and she really looks forward to the 'special treat'.

  4. Halloween is just around the corner now. Kenley and Kason are very excited. I still need to find some vampire teeth for Kenley. Walmart did have any so I need to check the party store, I think. She's going to be a vampire queen. I'm pretty sure the only reason she chose that costume was because she liked the dress! Kason is going to be a fireman. He's been pretty obsessed with firetrucks for the last few months, so it was only fitting for him!

  5. Justin and I went to a Halloween party last weekend and it was fun. We met some new friends and got to know our neighbors a little better. I was a witch and Justin was Richard Simmons (the same costume he wore a couple years ago). We have another costume party to go to this weekend and it will be fun for sure!

  6. Kason has really settled into his preschool now. He has made some new friends and really enjoys his days there. He comes home hungry and tired.

  7. I have to tell you about a couple of funny things he has said recently. Justin was changing his diaper over the weekend and threw his nannie (blanket) on the floor across the room. Here's how the conversation went: K: "I need a rope." J: "What do you need a rope for?" K: "So I can lasso my nannie!" How funny is that?? The second thing was when we were outside at a birthday party on Sunday. Some birds flew over us and were making noise. Kason says: "You hear that? Those eagles are trying to tell me something!" So serious. This kid cracks me up!

  8. On Thursday night I am working a Holiday Extravaganza event for Scentsy. There are going to be lots of vendors in one place and the proceeds benefit the Central Missouri Food Bank. If you don't have anything to do, come on out. It at the Old Hawthorne Clubhouse from 5-8.

  9. Kenley's birthday is coming up in a few weeks. It's hard to believe my girl is turning 6 years old! We're having a "Purplicious" (it's a book) party at Flipz on November 19 from 6-7:30. Invites coming soon!

  10. Did you know there are only 60 days until Christmas? I need to get started on the shopping! YIKES!
