First dentist appointment!

Kenley has her first dentist appointment today and it went GREAT! Much to my surprise because she woke up saying "I don't want to go to the dentist"! We got ready and got to our 8:10 appointment with a few minutes to spare. She was excited when we got there and couldn't stop talking about getting a new toothbrush.
I signed some paperwork and we were ready. A really nice girl named Mackenzie came out to get us. She was wearing an all red scrub outfit and Kenley commented on how much she liked it. We got into the chair for X-rays and Kenley was a little scared, but still doing great. Mackenzie showed her the X-ray films that she was going to put in her mouth and how she was going to take the pictures. She also asked if this was OK or not. Kenley said "sure". We got pictures of both sides of her teeth and she thought it was cool to see her teeth on the computer screen. From there Mackenzie took a picture of Kenley for her file and we went in to see Dr. Pickens.
He was very nice and Kenley liked him. She got a kick out of the chair that moved and laid her back. As you can see above, she looks so tiny in that big chair! He looked at and counted her teeth and said that everything looked great. She (and I) have been doing a great job brushing! He gave her the option to have her teeth cleaned while we were there, or to wait until the next appointment. It was totally her decision, but she chose to have them cleaned. Mackenzie got everything prepared and showed her all the tools, even demonstrated how they worked on her finger. The brush tickled and she thought the vacuum thing and the water squirter thing was really cool! Dr. Pickens was still in the room at this point and warned me that most kids under 5 will freak out once they start cleaning, so to not be surprised if this happens.....it didn't though! Kenley was a champ! She let Mackenzie clean her teeth and then put fluoride on them as well. She wasn't a huge fan of the fluoride because it was sticky and it had to dry and stay on for an hour, but it didn't bother her too much.
We were all finished! Mackenzie showed us to the 'treasure chest' where Kenley was able to pick out a couple of prizes for being such a great girl. Of course she chose a bracelet and 2 temporary tattoos. We scheduled another appointment for 6 months and that was that! All of the ladies who were working couldn't stop talking about her. They said that she was adorable and very polite. She always said please and thank you and even gave Mackenzie a hug!
Back in the summer Kenley did a commercial for this dentist office when they first opened, so they had seen her on TV and loved her talk of the 'sugar monsters'. They kept asking her why do you brush your teeth, just so she would tell them about the sugar monsters. I've included that commercial below, so you can check it out for yourself!

10 on Tuesday

1. SNOW! It's snowing!! I could totally do without the snow, but Kenley is very excited about it!

2. The snow made the roads really bad today. It took me close to an hour to get Kenley to Sherri's house and to work this morning. I was late to work and left early to get home before the bad weather started again.

3. The bedding is ordered! Should be here tomorrow, actually. I can't believe how excited I am to get the bedding!

4. Kason is an active boy. He moves around ALL DAY LONG. I told Justin that I hope this isn't an indication of what he'll be like when he's here. He'll never sleep because he's always moving.

5. I have the very first load of Kason's laundry in the dryer. I finally got a bunch together and bought hangers. I actually have something to hang the clean clothes on, so it on!!

6. Is it too early for that nesting thing? I came home today and started cleaning and organizing things that I haven't wanted to touch forever. My house is slowly, but surely, not as big of a mess.

7. Justin started a new workout program a couple of weeks ago. This program comes complete with a new healthier eating regimen. It sucks for me because half of the stuff that he's eating, I don't like it at all. I've been eating some stuff, but I've been eating a lot of cereal for dinner lately.

8. Speaking of this workout program...I'm going to do it after Kason is born. It's a 90 day program that even Justin, who is VERY fit, says gives him a huge workout. He works his butt off and comes upstairs sweating a ton. I gotta get my butt in shape for Jason and Allyson's wedding in September!

9. Kenley can hardly wait to be the flower girl in the wedding. She's been talking non stop about dressing up in a princess dress and throwing flowers at Ally's wedding. I hope she does well!

10. I'm sorry to Kim B for her grandma's death. I know how hard it must be to loose her so quickly to the cancer. I was thinking about you and your family even though I was not able to make it to the funeral today. (((HUGS)))

The Guessing Game!

I have added a feature to the right side of the blog for you to guess when baby Kason will arrive! You can also guess the weight and length he will be at birth. Since we already know that he is a boy, no one should get that wrong.

Once Kason is born, those guesses are compared to the birth stats to determine an overall winner and a winner in each category. Penalty points are assigned depending on how far the guess is from the actual value. To calculate a player's overall rank, the points from each category are totalled. Points are assigned as follows:

** incorrect gender: 400 points
** birth date & time: 5 points/hour
** weight: 5 points/ounce
** length: 10 points/inch

The winner is the person with the fewest points. This is just for fun, so there are no prizes, but you'll get the bragging rights :) Hope you have fun with this! Feel free to ask any questions that you might need the answer in determining your guess!

A couple of questions that I have gotten already and I'll go ahead and answer here:

Kenley was born exactly 2 weeks early. She weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. She was born at 11:30 am, after 23 hours of labor! Hope that helps!!

10 on Tuesday

1. Where did the weekend go? I even had a 3 day weekend, but it flew by!

2. I'm officially addicted to eBay. I've started selling Kenley's clothes and bedding stuff and I'm addicted. It's a lot of work to get things ready to list, but so far it's really paid off. I've sold everything and have a few hundred bucks in my pocket to buy things for Kason!

3. Speaking of eBay...that's where my weekend went. I spent a good portion of it getting out clothes, taking pictures of things, and packing boxes to ship things that I sold.

4. I've got a start on clothes now. I few very nice friends have given me some baby boy things. We have a start on clothes and sleepers, but it still seems like we need SO much. I'm going tomorrow night to another friends house to pick up some more things. I can't tell you how grateful I am for the freebies!

5. You should see what the nursery looks like right now. Actually, I wouldn't want anyone to see it right now. There is stuff EVERYWHERE in there....I don't even think you can walk in most of the room! I've got piles of clothes all over the floor...some to donate, some to sell, some to wash and put away for Kason. It's just about time to start on the 'new' nursery though, so I need to get it cleaned out asap!

6. I'm not sure of the paint colors to use in the room. We have a chair rail, for anyone who doesn't already know that, and will paint 2 different colors. At first we were thinking blue on blue with the darker blue on the bottom, but I think that might be too much blue now. Maybe blue with a more neutral color on top? Any suggestions on this? You can see the bedding on last weeks 10 on Tuesday!

7. Think good thoughts for my sister. She's only 20 weeks pregnant and has been having regular contractions. She went to the hospital yesterday and after a few hours of monitoring her, they sent her home and told her to stay off her feet for a few days. Luckily, she isn't dilating or anything right now...just having the contractions. Keep them in your prayers that my new niece stays put for another 20 weeks!

8. Another scare we had last week was when Mike (my father in law) went in for an angioplasty procedure and ended up having a stroke. He wasn't able to feel or move the left side of his body for a couple days, but he is as good as new now....Thank God for that one. It was a huge scare for all of us and we are very glad that he's doing much better.

9. We bought ourselves a Wii for Christmas. I love that thing but I have 2 complaints about it. One is that it's addicting and you can't stop playing it. Two is that my arm hurts when I play for too long. I could hardly move my arm for a good 3 days when we first got it.

10. My doctor appt went well last week. I gained 4 pounds...in 4 weeks!! I was guessing a 5 pound gain though, so I wasn't at all surprised about this! Kason's heartbeat was 166 and everything else was great. I go back in 4 weeks for my gestational diabetes test and another appt. I will start going in every 2 weeks after that. CRAZY! Only 108 days to go!

11. Happy birthday, Lori. I know I texted you and told you, but I wanted to say it again!

10 on Tuesday

1. I started back to the gym yesterday. I walked 3 miles yesterday and 2.5 miles today. It was a New Years Resolution to do this, so I'm glad I stuck to it.
2. Still making it to work on time....with the exception of one day when I was a couple minutes late. No big deal. 2 for 2 on the resolutions so far.

3. I have my 24 week doctor appt tomorrow. I'm not sure how I have managed to only gain a 1/2 pound so far, but I KNOW that will be changing when I weigh in tomorrow. I'm guessing I'll have a 5 pound gain....in 4 weeks!?!?!?!
4. My belly has really 'popped' recently. It started on Christmas Day with Justin commenting on how big it was getting. That same day my mother in law said the same thing, and I see her often as well. Since then i've had lots of people asking when I'm due and making comments about my ever growing belly. The one I got the other day from a coworker was "for someone who didn't look pregnant for a long time, you sure are starting to look pregnant'! She's right....I don't look "fat" anymore, it's obvious that there is a baby in there!

5. I'm looking SO forward to my upcoming 3 day weekend. Justin has the day off too, so we'll be able to hang out around the house and chill out!

6. Slowly but surely things are coming together for Kason. I'm getting ready to order the bedding in the next few days and will really work on getting the room cleaned out. It's full of stuff now that I just need to find a new home for.

7. Speaking of the bedding, this is what we are buying. It's from Pottery Barn Kids, the Chase collection.

8. September 6th...that's the date for Jason and Allyson's wedding. She just booked the winery for an outdoor wedding and reception. We can't wait and are so happy for them!

9. Kenley is SO excited about being the flower girl in the wedding. She tells everyone that she is going to dress up like a princess and throw flowers for Jason and Ally's wedding. She's never been in a wedding before, so this is super exciting for all of us!

10. Random picture since I couldn't think of anything else!

Justin's truck was stolen on Saturday night......

So we went out to dinner with some friends and their son. We got home around 9pm and Justin ran in with Kenley and I. He left the truck running in the driveway because he was planning on going over to a friends house while I got Kenley ready for bed. About 5 minutes passed while he was inside helping let the dogs out and getting his stuff. He goes back outside to find his truck gone. I was in Kenley's room upstairs while this is happening, but he tells me he throws his hands in the air and says "What the fuck? Where's my truck". He initially thinks that our neighbor is playing a trick on him, so he is looking across the street to see if he's home....he's not and his truck is not in sight. He's checking the houses all next door to make sure he didn't forget to put it in park and it rolled into a house! Thank God that didn't happen.

At this point Justin comes back in the house and yells up to me:
Justin: Jessi, my truck is gone.
Me: WHHAATTT? Shut up!
Justin: I'm serious...it's really gone. Someone must have stolen it.
Me: Are you serious?????

I could tell that he was serious by the panic and confusion in his voice, so I grab Kenley and run downstairs to see for myself. Sure enough there is no truck in sight. About this time Carl Edwards and his lovely new wife, Kate, walk by and ask Justin if he's looking for his truck. He says "I just parked it up the street and then we hid behind your neighbors van and watched your reaction. I wanted to watch a little longer, but I was afraid you'd call the cops!!! HAHAHAHAHA. Apparently they were out walking around the neighborhood and watched us all get out of the truck. He thought it would be funny to 'steal it'....and it was. We're just glad that the truck didn't really get stolen. Now we need to think of something good to get Carl back :) :)

How I found Kenley this morning!

So funny! She always moved around a bunch in her sleep. I'm actually surprised that she hasn't fallen from the 'big girl bed' yet. I found her sideways in her bed this morning with 'nannie' on her head. Silly girl!!

Wordless Wednesday...another thing I'm stealing :)

Normally on this would be a picture (or pictures) or a video without any words from me, but I had to tell you what to expect first! Who knows what it will be.....

10 on Tuesday

1. IT'S A GIRL ~ for my sister that is..... I'm still having a boy! My little sister is due 4 weeks after me and is having a little girl. Kylie will have a baby sister. Still no other boys in the family. Kason will be on his own for a while!

2. I pulled out all of Kenley's clothes that I have been storing for the last 3 years and Missy and I went through them. She took a pretty good amount of them for my new baby niece, but there is still a ton more. I need to get to selling those so I can buy BLUE!!

3. I've been super busy at work this week and I'm ready for it to slow down. It sucks when you don't have anything to keep you busy, but it also sucks when you are so busy that you can't see the bottom of your desk!

4. I really need to get back to the gym. I'm paying for it and haven't used it much since I've been pregnant. What a waste. I will start going again!

5. I've been doing well so far with my New Years Resolution. It was to get to work on time, everyday. Also to get up earlier and not be so rushed getting out the door. I made it to work 10 minutes early yesterday and 5 minutes early today.

6. Kenley was so excited to go back to school yesterday. Her school was on 'vacation' for the last 2 weeks, so she was at home with Daddy. She did enjoy spending time with Daddy, but she couldn't get into the school to see her friends fast enough. I'm so glad because it was rough when she first started school.

7. I'm glad that Kenley is back on schedule and is going to bed at a decent time. She got WAY off schedule while she was home because she was sleeping in everyday. She did not want to take naps and laid in bed for hours before she would fall asleep. Last night she hit the bed and I didn't hear a peep from her. She fell right asleep and slept great!

8. Why is my face breaking out? It's been like this since I've been pregnant. I don't think there has been any time that I haven't had a least one huge zit on my face. It's so annoying to have zits...I'm not 13 anymore.

9. My belly is getting bigger by the day. I know it's supposed to though! i personally think it's smaller this time then it was at this point when I was pregnant with Kenley. I've only gained 1/2 pound so far though as compared to the 20 or so I had packed on the last time. Thank goodness for small miracles!

10. 122 MORE DAYS????? That seems like an eternity to be pregnant. A little over 17 weeks to go...still a long time any way you look at it.
