My baby is HOW old???

My baby is 18 months old today! I know I have said it over and over again, but I am not sure how that is possible! I remember people telling me how the years go by faster as you get older and how your kids grow up so quickly, but now I really understand what they meant. My baby girl will be 5 in just a few weeks and my baby boy is already 1.5?!?!?! It's crazy how quickly time passes nowadays.
We took a trip to see Dr. Paula today for Kason's 18 month check-up. Of course she told me what I already knew, he's perfect!! He weighed 23 pounds, 13 ounces (25%) and was 33 inches (75%). I can't remember his head measurement, but it was still in the 90%....ha! He's still got a big head, lol, but I always say 'the bigger the head, the bigger the brain'! She specifically commented on how much and how well he is talking. I told her that he's following right in his sister's footsteps and hasn't stopped 'talking' since he figured out how!
Two big things that have happened in the past 6 months! Kason is now totally into reading books! I was beginning to wonder about him because he would not sit still long enough for me to read him a book. He didn't have ANY interest in them all until recently. Now we are able to read several books before bed, or anytime, and he loves them! Kenley was/is a huge bookworm! The other big thing is that he has finally figured out how to use yes and no appropriately! He used to say yes to almost anything you asked him, which could be kind of funny at times! I'm not sure if this new discovery is a good or bad thing yet. The jury is still out on that one!

10 on Tuesday!

  1. Yay!! Halloween is just around the corner! Kenley is counting down the days every single morning. She's so excited!
  2. Kenley went to school today because they were going on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. She has been talking about it for weeks! She'll get to pick her own pumpkin and they have some animals, a maze and all the kids will have a picnic lunch. Then on Friday they are having their Halloween party at school. She's excited to show all of her friends her Jessie costume!
  3. I'm excited for Halloween too!
  4. Kason is going to be 18 months old on Friday. I can't believe it. He is growing so fast and changing so much. He's now got tons of 2 and 3 word sentences and he's really got a personality too! He can throw a fit like no other....ok, so maybe he learned that trick from his sister! LOL!
  5. This is likely the last week for football. It's bittersweet. We promised Kenley that we would take her to IHOP for breakfast on weekend after football is over. She's never been and wanted to go for a long time now. I guess we'll be going sometime in the next couple weeks!
  6. I ordered Kenley's birthday invites today. A friend of mine made them and they turned out so cute! I can't wait to show her because she is going to love them!
  7. I got back a 'sneak peek' of our family pictures on Friday. The ones that she showed us were great!! I can't wait to see the rest of them.
  8. Did you know that there are Christmas decorations out already? Seems like it gets earlier and earlier every single year! Halloween hasn't even passed yet!
  9. My stepdad, Dale, had a total knee replacement last Wednesday and is doing well. He's got a nice little (big!!) incision that will leave a scar for sure. He seems to be doing well though, so I guess it's been a success!
  10. Less than 2 months until Christmas now. Wow! 2010 will be over before we know it!

10 on Tuesday!

  1. Where to start, where to start? I've been slacking lately. Actually, I've just been very busy! I feel as though I need 10 more hours on a day to do all that I need to do. I give MAJOR props to single moms because I have no clue how they do it. My husband is around (sometimes) and things are still crazy around here. I can't imagine doing it all alone with no help from a spouse.
  2. Happy belated 50th birthday to my father in law, Mike. We had a great time at your birthday party!
  3. Speaking of birthday's.....Justin and I are both about to turn 30. I remember the days when 30 seemed so old. Not that we are just months away, it's not feeling so old anymore! Surprisingly I am ok with turning 30 (for now) and I think Justin is too. It's just a number, right?
  4. My stepdad, Dale, is having a knee replacement surgery on tomorrow. I'm praying that all goes well and he has a fast and easy recovery. Thinking about you, Pops!
  5. Saturday is MU homecoming and it's been announced that 'College Game Day' is going to be here. What sucks about the whole thing is that it's supposed to rain the entire day. I really wanted to go to the game and the parade but this girl will NOT go sit out in the rain for a parade or a football game! I'll be staying in and enjoying my nice warm and dry house!
  6. We had family pictures taken on Saturday afternoon. I hope they turned out ok because Kenley was being a pill when we first started and Kason started to melt down towards the end. I know we got 'some' good shots, but I hope we were able to get some GREAT shots! I guess we will see soon enough!
  7. I am in need of a vacation badly! This 'football widow' thing is starting to take a toll on me! Although I love football season and I love that my husband loves it so much, I am ready to have him back :)
  8. Can you believe that Halloween is just around the corner? I know I say it all the time, but where does the time go? It seems to pass faster and faster every single year. It's sad.
  9. Congratulations to our friends, Angie and Kyle, on the birth of their second son, Colton. He's a cutie pie just like his older brother, Chase!!
  10. Kenley's birthday party is booked. Now I just need to get the custom invites printed. We're having the party at Flipz this year and Kenley couldn't be more excited! I, on the other hand, cannot believe my 'baby' is turning 5. I feel like I will blink and she'll be getting married.

Bat Man Party and John Deere Tractors!

We went to Ethan's 4th birthday party yesterday and had a blast. To say the kids had fun would be a huge understatement! Ethan is the son of some friends of ours, Eric & Melissa, who Justin went to college with! We keep in touch and try to get together as much as possible, but it's not that much :(
We have always said that Ethan is Kenley's little boyfriend because they are so cute together. When I got the invitation in the mail, I made a comment to Justin that we had to go because 'Ethan is Kenley's little boyfriend". She heard this comment and has been saying that Ethan is her boyfriend now. So funny!!

So, Ethan has this cute little John Deere tractor that ALL of the kids loved. They rode it around the yard all day long. Kenley was no exception! She loved driving it around as well. She even got her brother to sit in the wagon and she drove him around too!

At one point, Kason held on to the wagon and chased it around the yard. I wish I had gotten a video of it because it was hilarious! He kept up with her and held on for a long time.

Kason even found himself a little girlfriend! This is Addison, she's Ethan's little sister! Isn't she a doll?

Kenley watching Ethan open presents. Ethan's grandma made all of the kids their very own batman capes. Kenley loved hers and is gladly showing it off in the picture above!

Kason is enjoying watching Ethan open gifts as well!

Kason rode on and pushed around this little John Deere train too. He loved it so much that we had a very hard time keeping him away from it!

He got his girlfriend in the back. It's a good thing he didn't know how to actually make this tractor go. That would have been interesting!!

Jack O Lanterns

Our Jack O Lantern's! We had a pumpkin carving party last night. Jason and Allyson came over to have dinner and carve pumpkins with us. This was the first time we have done this with Kenley and she loved it! Justin carved the ghost, Allyson carved the bat and Kenley 'helped' me carve the cat. She picked the designs for all of us though!! What do you think? Not too bad if I do say so myself!!

MU South Farm Showcase

I'm late in updating with these pictures! I heard about the MU South Farm Showcase the morning of the event. It sounded fun, so I invited Sherri (my mother in law) to go with us. Justin was working, so he wasn't around anyway!

We enjoyed the day by taking a few hayrides. Kason loved watching the tractors and Kenley enjoyed the day watching the horses!

Each child got to pick out a pumpkin to take home too! Kenley and Kason searched high and low for their perfect pumpkins.

Kenley found hers!
Kason still looking for his!

Kenley came to the rescue. She helped Kason pick the perfect pumpkin!
My handsome little guy!!

There was even a hay bale maze. Kason enjoyed it so much that he needed to take a break in the middle! He just sat down in there!

Kenley came to help him get out of there!

We also enjoyed riding in a wagon led by mules!

Self portrait of Kenley and I before we left! There was lots of fun to be had at this event! They had lots of games and activities, a pumpkin painting/decorating station, wine tasting (Not sure how I missed this part), a petting zoo and even had a Budwieser Clydesdale horse there! It was tons of fun! Thanks for going with us, Sherri! Hope you had as much fun as we did!

My new niece, Amelia Rae!

I am happy to announce that I have a new niece! Amelia Rae was born on October 7, 2010 and weighed a whopping 9 pounds, 1 ounce! She's a big healthy girl and she's absolutely perfect!

Some of you followers might know that my sister cannot have children. She had tons and tons of medical problems when she was younger, which resulted in her having a hysterectomy when she was 20. It's always been her dream to be a Mommy and, finally, her dream came true by the grace of God!! I couldn't be happier for my sister and brother in law!!
Today was the day! We went to court were Christy and Jeff got legal custody of Amelia. It was an emotional day for all of us, but in the end, they were able to take their new baby home! The picture above was taken at the courthouse. This was the first time Christy had held her baby girl. It was an amazing thing to witness and it's something that I will NEVER forget. EVER!

My mom holding her newest granddaughter! Just looking at this picture makes my eyes well up with tears!

And last, but not least, Kenley with her new baby cousin! We went to visit after I picked Kenley up from school because she was dying to meet her cousin. She was in love with her too! Just like the rest of us! Welcome to the family, Amelia Rae! I hope you know what a lucky girl you are! You have a family that is SOOOOOO happy to have you! You are loved by many!!

  3. He has GREAT taste in diamonds :)
  4. He knows how to make the me laugh! One example is: This evening he got my on the ground and tickled me crazy! He only stopped because Kason was about to cry because he thought Justin was hurting me.
  5. He loves me and the kids more than anything else in the world!! (We love him more than anything else in the world, too!)
