10 on Tuesday!

  1. I know, I know. It's been a long time. I just spent quite awhile updating my blog template to something fall-ish and updating the 2 year old pictures of my and my family (if you are getting this via feeder - go my my blog to check it out)! I know I have said it a bunch, but I am really going to put forth an effort to start blogging regularly again. I know, I know.....you'll believe it when you see it. Ha! Same here :)
  2. Today is my brother in law, Josh's, birthday. He's 25 years old. When I met him, he was a 7 year old who got the biggest kick out of annoying his older brother. He's grown up to be a pretty cool guy though :) Happy birthday, Josh!
  3. This Friday is the first 'district' football game for the bruins. They have had a pretty good season, 6-3, this year. From now on it's 'one and done' meaning if they lose, their season ends. Hopefully they will win every week from now until the state championship game on black Friday! That would be the ultimate way to end Justin's 9th and final year at Rock Bridge!
  4. Since I'm on the subject of football....Battle High School is coming together!! The school is looking good and now the athletic turf is installed! Justin has been working REALLY hard on getting all of the weight room and football stuff ready to be purchased. We absolutely cannot wait until next year!!
  5. Kenley's birthday is coming up in less than 4 weeks (she's counting down) and we are busy planning her birthday party! She's having it at a place called "The Canvas On Broadway" which is a super cool place where they walk you through doing your own painting. Kenley will go there and pick out which painting she wants to do for her party! It's going to be a lot of fun!
  6. Kenley is in first grade this year and is doing great. At this point she is reading at almost a 2nd grade level and is doing really well in math and writing, too! It's no surprise to me that my 'book worm' is reading beyond the expected level for her age! She's enjoying school still and really likes her teacher this year. She's also been dubbed the 'computer expert' in her class....this means if anyone has questions about how to use the computer, they should ask her! She thinks that is pretty cool!
  7. Kason is enjoying his second year of preschool, too. He has a new buddy, Jackson, who he says is his best friend. He talks about Jackson non-stop and has been asking for Jackson to come over to our house forever! Little does he know, Jackson is coming over tomorrow evening to have that play date! He is learning a lot at preschool and I have seen him really transforming into a little boy. He is so smart and he amazes me everyday! As much as it pains me to say it....he is definitely growing up! He's not a baby anymore!
  8. MU homecoming is this Saturday. I wish we were able to go to the game, but it's too early for Justin to be able to go. The homecoming parade is starting at 7am this year. WTH is that all about? I haven't decided if I will take the kids or not. That is really early and it is going to be really cold. Ugh...
  9. Kenley is now dancing at CPAC (Columbia Performing Arts Center) instead of Columbia Dance Academy. She's been wanting to take Jazz for a while now, but it didn't work out. Once I got to researching CPAC I found out that it's cheaper for her to dance there and, in my opinion, it's a better dance school. She loves it and is doing really well!
  10. We could use some prayers for Justin's grandpa, Dave. He's been in the hospital and is not doing well at all. Any thoughts or prays you could spare would be nice!

10 on Tuesday!

  1. I know it's been a while. I keep getting these message from friends and family telling me it's been X amount of time since I last updated so here I am!
  2. Today Justin and I are celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary. It's been a wonderful 8 years - 2 wonderful kids, 3 dogs, 3 new houses, countless new cars and priceless memories! I can't imagine being married to anyone else! Justin is my best friend and soul mate!
  3. Last weekend I watched our wedding video with the kids. It was fun and hilarious at the same time! Kenley couldn't understand why she wasn't invited to the wedding and Kason was confused because he 'has two mommies' since I was in the room and on the TV! It was so cute!
  4. Kenley had her dance recital this past weekend and it was so much fun. She did so good! She sure loves dancing and I can't see her stopping anytime soon. Next year she wants to do jazz....I'm sure she'll be great at it, too!
  5. Kenley has now lost 3 teeth and she has another that is getting ready to fall out any day now. She'll be missing both of her top front teeth! I can't wait...it will be so cute.
  6. Last week Kason started wearing big boy underwear!! Can you believe that?? In fact, he's only had 1 pee accident in exactly one week. On the other hand, he has pooped his pants more times that I care to think about. At least he's got part of it, right? I'll take it!
  7. Last Wednesday Kason threw one of his favorite crocs over the fence at preschool. Did I mention that over the fence is a huge wooded drop off to a creek? Bobby looked for it and couldn't find it. We thought it was gone but Justin decided to try himself and he found it!! YAY!!
  8. Happy 30th birthday to my BFF, Allyson! We had a great time celebrating at your "White Party" on Saturday night.
  9. I just had a nice surprise visit from Justin and Kason.....they brought me a beautiful flower bouquet for my anniversary!
  10. That's all for now, folks!!

So Much To Catch Up On.....

I know it has been a long time. Life seems to get busier by the day and most days I feel like I need another 6 hours in my day to get everything done. It's crazy to me that I haven't updated since November. There is so much that needs to be caught up. This post will be all about catching up and I promise, from now on, I will TRY to stay on top of my blogging. So here goes...

JUSTIN

We had some VERY exciting news in January! Justin got the head football coaching job at the new high school in town! Battle High School will open in August of 2013, so he still has another year at Rock Bridge before he will start teaching and coaching there, but the journey has already begun! We went for a tour of Battle High back in February and let me just say....this school is AMAZING!!! You can check out the pictures I posted on Facebook HERE. The tour was for Justin to see the setup in the weight room and for all of the football storage. He is currently working on ordering all of the weight room equipment and football equipment. If you haven't already seen it, there was a really nice article written about Justin in the Columbia Daily Tribune. You can read that story HERE! We are so proud of Justin and we are excited to be Battle High Spartans!!

In other news, Justin had a birthday in December. He turned 31! We celebrated by having a birthday party at his parents house and then went out with some friends to celebrate a different night. Justin is currently getting ready to start mowing season again. Ugh. While we love (and need) the money from the mowing business, I don't think either of us is ready for mowing to start again. It's really hard on all of us because he is gone so much until school gets out for the summer.

JESSI

I have been busy the last few months. About the time I stopped blogging is when I started working out and running. Since November I have lost 28 pounds!! I'm working out a couple of days a week and also running 3-5 days a week as well. I signed up for my first 5k race that I will be doing this Saturday, St. Patricks Day! When I first started running it was a goal to run a 5k this year, but I didn't expect to be doing it so early in the year! I am excited about the race and a little nervous now that it's getting so close. I'm not in it to win it though....I'm in it to finish it!

Aside from running, I have been busy with Scentsy parties! I'm loving the extra money I am making and, of course, I get some cheap Scentsy for myself as well! If anyone is interested in having a party, let me know! This month there is a new catalog and new scents! The only other things going on with me: My birthday is Friday!! I'm trying to figure out what to do to celebrate! I'm also gearing up to get some spring cleaning done and get ready for a garage sale that we are having on April 6th and 7th. My life isn't all that exciting!

KENLEY

Kenley turned 6 back in November and we celebrated by having a 'Purplicious' party at Flipz. Many of her new friends from school came to her party and a fun time was had by all! She might have only turned 6 years old on her last birthday, but I swear she has the attitude of a 16 year old! Kenley is enjoying kindergarten and has been learning so much! Sometimes she amazes me with the things that she knows! She is writing really well now and has started to read on her own as well! In February she won the 'Distinguished Dragon' award for her grade! She's making lots of new friends, learning lots of new things & having a lot of fun in kindergarten! Aside from school, she is busy with dance and will soon start coach pitch softball. She lost her first tooth about a month ago and has another one that should be out soon (there is another tooth behind it already)! Our cat, Max has really taken to her over the last several months. He snuggles with her every night and I often take pictures of the two of them when they are sleeping!

KASON

Kason has a birthday coming up soon! It's hard to believe my boy is almost 3 years old!! He's grown up so much and so fast it brings tears to my eyes. We are planning a 'Lightening McQueen' party at the park, per Kason's request! He is still enjoying preschool and has made lots of new friends there. He always tells me about the little boys that he plays with and about Bobby (owner/teacher). He's learned a lot of new things like songs, colors, shapes, etc. He got a scooter for Christmas and he has finally mastered riding it. He will whip around on it and can now push it with either foot. He also hops on it and rides it after he gets going (this took a while for him to realize)! Kason loves Tito and Tito LOVES Kason. You can often find the two of them rolling around on the floor together. Kason is sure to smell really bad after being licked and licked and licked and licked!

So, as you can tell, there isn't a dull moment at our house! We have stayed really busy and will be even more busy once Justin starts mowing again. I'll try to catch up on some of the pictures as time allows (ha!!).

Today I Am Thankful For: Day 9

Today I am thankful for all of the lessons that I have learned about life and where they have lead me today. I know there are most lessons to be learned; however, I will live and learn!

Today I Am Thankful For: Day 8

Today I am thankful for Kim Ballard. We had family photos taken a couple weeks ago and just got the 'sneak peek'. I'm in love with what I have seen so far! She did a great job. I love new pictures of my beautiful family!!

Today I Am Thankful For: Day 7

Today I am thankful for a day off work. I originally had this day scheduled off because I was having surgery, but I chickened out on the surgery. I decided that the day off sounded wonderful though. I'm planning on doing nothing but lounging around and maybe doing some organizing of some things that desperately need it. I'm not really sure yet, but I know that it is going to be an awesome day!

Today I am Thankful For: Day 6

Today I am thankful for good friends. We were able to go out last night to the 'For Love of the Game' dinner and auction. It's a big thing that Rock Bridge puts on every year to raise money for the sports teams. It's a nice dinner with drinks and good company. We met up with some friends afterwards and had a really nice time. I love that I have good friends who I can always count on to be there for me and to have a good time with!

Today I Am Thankful For: Day 5

Today I am thankful for my in laws, Mike and Sherri. I truly consider them family and I love them so much. They have done so much for us and would do anything for our children. I feel really lucky that I have in laws that I not only like a lot, but I love them to pieces! I couldn't have hoped for or wished for a better Mother or Father in Law. Love you guys!

Today I am Thankful For: Day 4

Today I am thankful for my momma! She is such a great momma and is always there for me for anything I need. She's supported my decisions, even when she didn't agree with them, and has always been there to listen. I feel really blessed to have a mom that I also consider a best friend! LOVE YOU, MOMMA!

Today I am Thankful For: Day 3

Today I am thankful for the internet. Without going into tons of details, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis today. I have had thyroid issues for 5 years, but I had no clue what this was. It appears that it's a autoimmune condition in which your immune system attacks an organ in your body. In my case that organ is my thyroid. I have to change my medication and also have to start a gluten free diet. I've been researching all evening on the disease and the gluten free diet. I can't imagine how much harder it would be to find the information without the internet.

Today I Am Thankful For: Day 2

Today I am thankful for a job that I like a coworkers that I love! I won't lie and say that I would keep my job even if I won the lottery tomorrow, but I do like my job and I don't dread coming to work most days. I love, love, LOVE most of my coworkers as well and have made friends at work that will be forever friends!

Today I Am Thankful For: Day 1

Today I am thankful for two beautiful, healthy children and my wonderful husband! They have been a blessing to me and I can't imagine my life without them. I love you, Justin, Kenley & Kason!!

10 on Tuesday!

  1. I've been sucking at keeping this updated lately. Football will be over soon so hopefully it won't be as hard to keep it up!

  2. Speaking of football, Justin has been having a great season. They are currently 6-3 with one more game in the regular season. It's possible for us to go on after this game, but I know there is a formula to it and I can't explain it. Good luck, RB!

  3. Kenley had a field trip at school yesterday. Her school does a special thing every 6 weeks or so that all the kids get to do if they have all of their work done and have stayed out of trouble. The first time the went to the movies. Yesterday they went to Bradford Farms for several hours. Kenley had a great time and she really looks forward to the 'special treat'.

  4. Halloween is just around the corner now. Kenley and Kason are very excited. I still need to find some vampire teeth for Kenley. Walmart did have any so I need to check the party store, I think. She's going to be a vampire queen. I'm pretty sure the only reason she chose that costume was because she liked the dress! Kason is going to be a fireman. He's been pretty obsessed with firetrucks for the last few months, so it was only fitting for him!

  5. Justin and I went to a Halloween party last weekend and it was fun. We met some new friends and got to know our neighbors a little better. I was a witch and Justin was Richard Simmons (the same costume he wore a couple years ago). We have another costume party to go to this weekend and it will be fun for sure!

  6. Kason has really settled into his preschool now. He has made some new friends and really enjoys his days there. He comes home hungry and tired.

  7. I have to tell you about a couple of funny things he has said recently. Justin was changing his diaper over the weekend and threw his nannie (blanket) on the floor across the room. Here's how the conversation went: K: "I need a rope." J: "What do you need a rope for?" K: "So I can lasso my nannie!" How funny is that?? The second thing was when we were outside at a birthday party on Sunday. Some birds flew over us and were making noise. Kason says: "You hear that? Those eagles are trying to tell me something!" So serious. This kid cracks me up!

  8. On Thursday night I am working a Holiday Extravaganza event for Scentsy. There are going to be lots of vendors in one place and the proceeds benefit the Central Missouri Food Bank. If you don't have anything to do, come on out. It at the Old Hawthorne Clubhouse from 5-8.

  9. Kenley's birthday is coming up in a few weeks. It's hard to believe my girl is turning 6 years old! We're having a "Purplicious" (it's a book) party at Flipz on November 19 from 6-7:30. Invites coming soon!

  10. Did you know there are only 60 days until Christmas? I need to get started on the shopping! YIKES!

MU Homecoming Parade

My Little Miss Boone County got to be in the homecoming parade this past weekend. She had been looking forward to it for a LONG time and was counting down the days. She went to bed early on Friday night so that she would be ready to go in the morning, and boy was she ever! I'm pretty sure I have never seen her get up and around as easy as she did that morning. She was up before the sun came up and was ready to go in record time! She enjoyed throwing candy and waving at all of the people she knew. After the parade she said "I must be famous because everyone was taking pictures of me and people wanted to take pictures with me". She cracks me up!

10 on Tuesday!

1. I'm in payroll hell today. It amazes me that every 'upgrade' they do on our system makes everything 100 times worse.

2. Tomorrow we have a 'Student Affairs Breakfast'. It's basically something our unit does for Reslife, Campus Dining and bookstore (maybe more, I can't remember) employees. It will be nice to have a free breakfast!

3. This weekend is the MU South Farm Showcase. We went last year and had a great time. They have a petting zoo, hayrides, mule wagon rides, free pumpkins, hay mazes and a bunch of other stuff. This year they are having tethered hot air balloons rides! Don't tell the kids, but we are going to do it and they are going to flip out! They both love hot air balloons! I can't wait!

4. It's going to be a busy weekend! On top of the South Farm Showcase, we have Madison's 9th birthday party and Amelia's first birthday party as well. I will be running all around this weekend but that's ok!

5. I took Kason to the doctor last Saturday and they said he had a cold. I hate when I pay $15 for the doctor to tell me "it's a cold, or it's a virus". GRRRR. I guess it's better safe than sorry but I hate that!! I think he's slowly but surely starting to get over it.

6. Kenley started dance a couple weeks ago and is enjoying it very much. She LOVES to dance. Now I get to hear "when it my dance recital", "what is my costume going to be", "what song are you dancing to" over and over again. She doesn't understand that they don't even think about the recital until March. Ha!

7. Kason has been loving preschool. Much to my surprise, he only had a couple of days of drop off where he was sad and/or crying. He's done really, really well. He loves Bobby (so does Kenley) and has some friends that he enjoys playing with. It cracks me up because every day I ask him what he had for lunch and every single day the answer is the same, tacos! I'm pretty sure they don't eat tacos every day!

8. Mark your calendars ladies and gentleman.....Kenley is going to be in the Mizzou Homecoming Parade on October 15. She'll be riding in a convertible and will have a sign that says that she's Little Miss Boone County 2011! She is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!

9. Last chance for cookie dough or Celebrating Home orders. Anyone? The cookie dough order is due tomorrow and the other is due last this week. Let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in ordering!

10. 2 weeks in a row......I'm on a roll!

Kenley's big dance debut!

Remember how I said Kenley did a dance clinic with the bruin girls a couple weeks ago? Friday night was the night that the girls got to show their stuff at the football game. Kenley was SO excited! She's just to the left of the 40 yard line at the start of this video. I loved watching her! SOOOOO cute!

10 on Tuesday!

  1. Wow, it's been a while. I've been really slacking on this lately and my mom and sisters have made sure I knew it! I'm making it a point to do better at this from now on!

  2. Things have been busy. Justin is into week 4 of football and that is taking a lot of his time. Rock Bridge is 3-0 right now, YIPEEEE! Keep it up, coach!

  3. Speaking of football, Kenley did a Bruin Girl Dance Clinic last weekend and will be dancing with the Bruin Girls at the football game this Friday night. She was SOOO excited and can hardly wait. It should be cute to watch those little girls dance to Justin Bieber!

  4. Kason has been loving preschool. We only had a couple of days of rough drop offs and now there are no tears. There are lots of little boys there right around his age and he has a great time playing with them. He is always so excited to see me when I get there, but when I ask him if he's ready to go, he says "NOOOOO, I not ready to go yet". Silly boy!

  5. Kenley has been doing well in kindergarten, although, it has been a huge adjustment for her. She's a terror to get out of bed in the mornings and often yells "I don't want to go to school. Why can't I sleep in? You always tell me to sleep in, just let me sleep in right now". Now I know what my mom went through with me. LOL! I knew that was coming, I just didn't expect it this early.

  6. If anyone is interested, Scentsy launched a new catalog this month. It's got a lot of nice new warmers, Scentsy buddies and they have new solid perfume now. I'm really excited about the new things in this catalog. If you are interested in ordering or hosting a basket party, please let me know. You won't be sorry!!

  7. Kenley started dance again last night. It couldn't have come fast enough.....I was getting tired of her asking when dance was going to start again. She enjoyed her class last night and met some new friends, including, Madison, who is the daughter of my friend, Shannon. Those girls are two peas in a pod and they will have fun in class together this year!

  8. Both of the kids are doing fundraisers right now for their schools. Kenley is selling frozen cookie dough and select magazine subscriptions. Kason is selling candles, holiday decor and gift bags/wrap. All of the stuff is nice. Let me know if you want to check it out!

  9. I can't remember if I have posted about this yet, but our cat, Max was diagnosed at diabetic a couple months ago. We've been dealing with it, but I don't think he's doing too well. I'm not sure if he'll be around for much longer :(

  10. That's all I got for today. Hopefully will be back tomorrow for some Wordless Wednesday!

Not So Wordless Wednesday!

I know, I know......it's been a long time since I updated. The truth is that things have been crazy both at home and at work! The couple of months before the students return is my busiest time of the year and this year, I lost my student worker who was a great helper! At home we have been trying to spend some time with the kids before football and school starts, so I wasn't around the computer much.

Football started last week. We hardly saw Justin at all. He left as we were leaving, was home in the afternoon, then was leaving again as soon as we got home. Then I was going to bed just as he was getting at night! That week of two-a-day practices is always hard! He started back with school meetings and stuff this week, so football is more scheduled and routine. The first game is next Friday!!

Kenley is starting kindergarten TOMORROW!! I can't believe it! She's been very excited for the last couple of weeks. We went to the school last night to meet her teacher, Mrs. Cameron, and see her classroom. It's an awesome classroom with a bathroom right in it and little lockers instead of cubbies! I was hoping that she would get Mrs. Cameron because I heard so many wonderful things about her. She is a little older than the other kindergarten teachers and I think that will be a great thing for my strong willed/hard headed girl! LOL. Today has been a little bittersweet for her though.....it was her last day of preschool! Although she's thrilled to be starting school, she's a little sad that she won't see her friends anymore! Tonight we will pick out school clothes, get the backpack ready, pack the lunch and get ready for the BIG day tomorrow. I bet you are wondering if I am going to cry......the answer is MOST DEFINITELY! I just hope I can hold it together until after I leave the building!

Another BIG milestone is happening this week! Kason is starting preschool! He'll be taking Kenley's spot at Little Miracles! He will be going there all day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I know with all of my heart that he NEEDS this, but it's scary! It's great that he is already somewhat familiar with Little Miracles, it's just nerve wracking to think about nap time, playing outside with all of the big kids, eating what is served, etc. I know he'll be fine. HE WILL BE FINE and learn SO much! How are both of my babies old enough to be in 'school' now?

PS: Happy 35th birthday to my big sister, Christy!

Little Miss Boone County 2011

Kenley was in the Little Miss Boone County contest on Saturday and SHE WON!!! She was so excited to have her very own crown and sash and she wore them both around the house all weekend! She also gets to pass out awards at the fair on two different days! I think the thing that she is most excited about is that she'll get to be in the homecoming parade in October!!

Here's Kenley with the Fair Queen, Teen Queen & Princess, as well as the runners up. She was in awe of those bigger girls and she was excited to be in a picture with them!

She wore her crown and sash around the fair all day. Here's her in the petting zoo with the cute little goats!

Here's Kenley on stage! They asked her to say her name, age and her favorite thing at the fair! She did so good and we are so proud of her!
